About Me

Ou "Lydia" Liu

Hi everyone! I’m Ou Liu and I go by the name Lydia. I’m running for the Hopewell Valley School District Board of Education.

  • I've been a Pennington resident for 14 years with my husband Yi Zheng. We have two boys, Jayden, 11, and Michael, 8. Jayden attends the Timberlane Middle School and Michael is at Stony Brook Elementary School. Both are avid swimmers and tennis players.

  • I work for the nonprofit educational research and assessment organization ETS, overseeing three research centers that aim to improve teaching, learning, and assessment for learners spanning K12, higher education, and workforce.

  • I received my PhD in Quantitative Methods and Evaluation from the Graduate School of Education at University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Science and English from the University of Science and Technology in China.

  • Striving for diversity and inclusion has always been my passion, at work and in life. At ETS I co-lead the Asian Business Resource Group, focusing on promoting cultural awareness and professional development. I served on our district’s Education and Culture Committee in 2019 and in 2021 participated in a district panel discussion on creating an inclusive environment for all of our students. I firmly believe that by working together we can make a real change.
