Why I'm Running

I’m interested in this position for a number of reasons. One is to work with the fabulous teachers, staff, students and parents in our district to seek positive changes and make a great district even better. We’ve had fabulous experience with our district and I’m always looking for an opportunity to pay forward to the community.

My second reason is to bring voices of all backgrounds to the HVRSD Board of Education. No form of participation is more effective than being at the table (or on the screen these days😊). Our student population is diverse, and I want to contribute to creating a learning environment that brings the best out of our learners and respects the rich social and cultural experiences students bring to the classrooms.

Another important reason for me to consider running is to build strong connections with parents and understand some of the areas that can make our students’ learning experience even better. For example, I’ve heard discussions among parents about the need to improve lunch schedules for our middle school students and also the need for busing for after-school programs. I’m eager to work with other Board members, educators, and families to find practical solutions for these issues.
